Employment Description:

In the advanced countries of science and technology, the output value of industries related to optoelectronic information technology has accounted for more than half of the total output value of the national economy. China is in the stage of high-speed development of science and technology, and the demand for photovoltaic talents has been increasing year by year, and its competitiveness has become stronger. It can be affirmed that with the continuous rise of the optoelectronics industry, technical talents with the background in optoelectronic information education will have continuously enhanced competitiveness.

Optoelectronics graduates mainly have the following development directions:

(1)Advanced study in optical engineering. The graduates of optoelectronic majors have more than 40% graduates to be excused from an examination or got into the optical engineering graduate students at home and abroad for further study each year, and the salary level of the graduates is more than 7000. In recent years, colleges and universities that continue to pursue advanced studies or postgraduate entrance examination: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Imperial College London, New York University, University of Southern California, University of Sheffield, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Sun Yat-sen University, Huazhong Science and Technology Universities, Zhejiang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Southeast University and Jiangnan University.

(2)The photoelectric enterprises. Optoelectronics graduates have a firm optics foundation and have strong application ability for engineering applications and electronic information industry, and they are widely favored by social enterprises. At present, the main employment companies are ZTE, Suntech, BOE, Stake, Finisa, Hewlett-Packard, Artes Solar, New Guanglian and other industry leaders.

(3)Photoelectric detection enterprises and teachers. Students who like and are good at photoelectricity detection can learn sufficient courses to seek jobs in photovoltaic testing centers, quality inspection bureaus and other institutions. Some students who pass with Certificates of Teaching shall be engaged in the teaching profession. Some others will further their study for Ph.D. and stay in college upon graduation.
